Forthcoming Country Diagnostics
Country Diagnostics for Ghana and Ethiopia
Following the completion of the Country Diagnostic for Côte d'Ivoire, further Country Diagnostics are underway for Ghana and Ethiopia. As in the case of the Country Diagnostic for Côte d'Ivoire, the purpose of these Country Diagnostics is to identify measures that will enhance the provision of funding with a maturity that closely matches the lifetime of productive investments.
The Ghana LTF country diagnostic was carried out by an expert team of international and local consultants between June 2018 and March 2020. The team held extensive stakeholder dialogue in the course of three missions to Accra and produced four technical notes on the following topics:
• Macroeconomic issues, capital markets and banking
• Infrastructure finance
• Housing finance
• Enterprise finance
In March 2020 key findings of the diagnostic were discussed with the Ghanaian Ministry of Finance in Accra and potential follow-up activities are being considered. The four technical notes and a short summary paper will be made available following final clearance.
A third LTF country diagnostic is currently ongoing in Ethiopia, with technical support from the AFDB. Despite delays brought about by Covid-19, the draft Country Diagnostic is expected to be available for discussion with the Ethiopian authorities in December 2020.
